How to Host a Free Murder Mystery Party

Murder mystery parties offer hours of entertainment for your guests.

Many people enjoy mystery books, movies or television shows. People host their own murder mystery parties as home because they provide entertainment for all of their guests. You can host your own murder mystery at home for free with free murder mystery packages that you can find online.


Step 1

Visit the Merry Murder website,, and click on the free game button on the toolbar on the left side of the screen. It should be highlighted in yellow.

Step 2

Click the "Download for Free" button near the middle bottom of the screen. Scroll to the bottom of the screen, and click on the second "Click Here" button.


Step 3

Sign up for the newsletter by entering your name and email address.

Step 4

Confirm that you signed up for the newsletter by checking your email. Open the email from Merry Murder, and click the link in the text of the email.


Step 5

Open the second email from Merry Murder, and select the link in the text of the email.

Step 6

Download the instructions file, printable invitation files, emailable invitation files, character booklets file, clue questions file and envelopes file by clicking on the links at the top of the Merry Murder site and saving them to your desktop. If the site is password protected, use the password that was sent in the second email.


Step 7

Print out all of the murder party materials and send the invitations a few weeks before your party. Have all of the materials ready for the murder party when your guests arrive. Follow the instructions file to proceed.


The materials will be downloaded in a PDF file. If you do not have Adobe Reader, you can download it for free on the Adobe website,

Consider decorating your house in the style or period of your murder mystery and asking your guests to dress up as their charactesr.
