Borax, also known as sodium borate, is a cleaner and emulsifier. The substance is easily mixed into a paste and will remove a variety of stains and spots from a number of surfaces. Borax is inexpensive and safe to use in your home or business. Creating a borax paste is not difficult—all you need is some lemon juice, some borax and a plastic container to hold the cleaning mixture.

Step 2

Pour 1 cup of borax into a plastic container.

Step 3

Add ¼ cup of lemon juice to the plastic container.

Step 4

Stir the borax/lemon juice mixture with a spoon until the solution is a sticky paste.

Step 5

Place a lid on the plastic container until you are ready to use the paste.

Step 6

Use a sponge or rag to apply the paste to surfaces you want to clean.

Tip

Try to use the borax paste within a reasonable amount of time—a week or so. If the borax paste dries out from storing it too long, mix in a teaspoon of lemon juice to “recharge” it.
