Hi, I'm Bill Walker, and I am here to show you how to shorten mini blinds. The tools you will need are a flat headed screwdriver, and a pair of scissors. The first step is to mount the blind to the window. Next, lower the blind down past the window sill. The next step is to determine the number of slats to remove. For instance, if there are 4 slats that are hanging down below the sill, then you will want to remove them. Now, remove the tape buttons from the bottom of the rail by gently prying them off with a screwdriver. Now, cut the lift cord away from the bottom rail. Pull the cord out of the slats you need to remove. The slats sit inside a corded ladder. Remove the slats from the ladders. Next, string the lift cords back through the bottom rail hole. Now, tie a knot in the lift cord. Now, make sure that it's big enough to prevent it from coming back through the bottom rail hole. Now, lift the blind and check to see if it's parallel to the window sill. If it is not even you will have to adjust the length of the lift cords. Do this by retying the knots. Now, you can cut the excess length of the ladders and put those little pieces back into the holes on the bottom of the rail. And that is how to shorten mini blinds.
