I'm Tim Gipson and I'm going to talk to you about how to measure for cabinets. Now of course one of the good things that you can do to add value to your home is to do a kitchen renovation. And when we start this and when we want to look at our cabinet layout, what we want to do is we want to draw a rough sketch of the kitchen. So in the case of this, I would draw a rough sketch, and it doesn't have to be anything that's real detailed. But this would be our starting. So it would show that our kitchen is an L with a short opening here and then a short section here. And then we want to just mark out some areas on here. And label these. Okay. And again, it doesn't have to be anything real fancy, but we mark out our sink, our oven and our refrigerator. So when we're measuring for cabinets, we need to determine what our useful dimension is. And what we can do is we can lay this, and we want to go from this wall and lay our tag measure along the counter, and we want to come out and measure. So this is a hundred and eight inches. And then we want to come over here and add our two inches, so actually we have a hundred and ten inches. So, we will measure that and we will apply that dimension along the back of our sketch. So as you can see I've got a hundred and ten inches that I put on the sketch. And then the next thing in our cabinet layouts is our plumbing is in a certain point for our sink, so we want to measure from the center of our sink to the edge of our wall, and we want to put that dimension out here. Okay. And if you'll notice on my drawing I put this little CL and that indicates a centerline. So that I know. And we want to go around the entire room and we want to mark off where the oven is, where the refrigerator is, also there's a dishwasher in here I haven't shown. And then we also want to measure for this length. So when you get all those measurements it's quite a comprehensive process, but that's all the dimensions. You basically have just got to get a layout of your room, and you want to draw this as if you're at the ceiling looking down on your floor plan. So I'm Tim Gipson and that's how to measure for cabinets.
