"This is Ben Ingham with Expert Village to talk to you about putting in a gravel road. All I did was try to smooth up a road base by simply dragging it with a box blade to take out most of the lumps and humps so it would be a nice smooth road bed. In order to get gravel, I had always been ordering it by what's called "the yard", which is called a cubic yard. That's the way I had always worked with it but, here, on this particular property is seems like all the gravel and sand I buy is by the ton. So, I had to work with the man who brought the gravel out to me and he converted tons over into yards for me and I simply told him how wide the road was going to be and how long it was going to be. And what I had figured out in yards that I needed and he converted over to tons, the way that he had to purchase it, and the way that he sold it to me."
