Tiny bathrooms do not have to suffer in design because you are limited on space. Using a careful design-planning process, you can make the most of your small space. Elements such as colors, fixtures and storage appropriate for a small bathroom help it appear larger and eliminate feelings of confinement.
Colors play a major role in determining how small or large a space feels and appears. Use warm colors throughout the small bathroom, such as tans, browns and pale yellows. Accent light-colored walls and floors with tones slightly darker, but complementary to floor and wall colors; medium-toned wood sink vanities look nice with beige-tone walls.
Fixtures such as the bath, shower, countertop and faucet aid in transforming a tiny bathroom into a bigger environment. If you have a bathtub and shower combination, use the smallest bathtub you can find, making sure that it still is comfortable for you. Enclosing the bathtub and shower combination or shower stall with a clear glass enclosure helps the room feel larger because you can see every wall in the bathroom, which makes the depth appear significant.
A floating countertop is ideal for when you want a space to seem larger. This type of countertop is installed like a shelf into the wall and has nothing below it. The design concept allows you to see more of the wall, which enhances the bathroom’s size. Since a countertop in a tiny bathroom does not offer a lot of space, you need to eliminate as much from its surface as you can. Placing the faucet and handle on the wall above the sink opens up more counter space.
Careful storage planning is essential to make the most of the space available in a small bathroom. The optimal place for some sort of storage is under a portion of the floating countertop. Using a storage feature that has a barrier to the products you place inside, such as a door, makes the bathroom seem larger because the view throughout the room is seamless.
