Maintenance Free Deck Ideas

Composite decking is a maintenance-free decking material. The four types of composite decking available are Evergrain, WeatherReady, LockDry and DeckRite. Whether you plan to install the decking yourself or have someone else do the work, each is slightly different from another in the way it looks, the installation process and the cost of the decking.

  • EverGrain decking is a compression mold decking made to look like real wood with a distinctive grain pattern and texture. One of the advantages of EverGrain decking is you do not need to paint or stain the decking; it comes in seven colors. Install it as just a patio or add matching skirting and rails made of the same material. The planks are available in a 2-foot by 6-foot size and are slip-resistant for installing around pools and hot tubs without a problem.

  • WeatherReady is a PVC decking that has had titanium dioxide added. This ensures it is stain- and scratch-proof while still having a long-lasting color that will not fade over time. It is very durable and will not crack, warp, split, splinter, decay or mold. WeatherReady is available in five colors and comes in 12-, 16- and 20-foot lengths. The planks are reversible as well, providing the option of creating patterns within your deck. It is water- and slip-resistant so it can be used around pools and other areas near water.

  • LockDry decking is aluminum decking that uses a locking seal to create a water-resistant surface that also is seamless. The decking planks are powder-coated to ensure long-lasting color and resistance to fading and scratches. The powder coating also makes LockDry cooler compared to wood or concrete. It is available in four colors in strips 6 inches wide by 1 inch thick and are water- and slip-resistant. The company makes matching rails of the same material to add to your deck area. Also, it is very strong and can withstand high amounts of weight so it can be used as a second-story deck, such as above a car port.

DeckRite Vinyl

  • DeckRite Vinyl flooring is a floor covering that can be added over existing decks, patios, concrete slabs or wood. It is made of a three-ply laminate membrane, a polyester fabric that has been compressed between two vinyl films. It is available in four colors and comes in a roll 68 inches wide by 90 feel long. It is water-, tear- and fade-resistant. Installation is easy, and the company makes matching rails to add to the decking area.
