  1. Molbak's Poinsettia Festival

    • Since 1975, family-owned Molbak's Garden and Home Store (molbaks.com) hosts its annual holiday Poinsettia Festival. The event takes place on Molbak's 40-acre farm and greenhouse and showcases more than 42 varieties of poinsettias, as well as a 14-foot poinsettia tree, a popular setting for family Christmas portraits. Other festival highlights include Ice Apples (the last-picked Fuji apples of the season), homemade Danish Kringle pastry, strolling carolers, a walk-through display of lavishly decorated Christmas trees and complimentary pictures with Santa.

    Woodinville Wonderland

    • Each year, Mark and Tracy Zembruski decorate their home and land with various Christmas displays and over 93,000 lights spanning almost 9 miles in cords. The impressive Christmas display, known as the Woodinville Wonderland (woodinvillewonderland.com), features lights and characters that dance to holiday music, all precisely choreographed through a computerized timing program. During December, the show is broadcast over local radio and hundreds of visitors flock to the site to visit Santa, watch the spectacle and donate to the Special Olympics of Washington.

    McMurtrey's Red-Wood Christmas Tree Farm

    • The McMurtrey family owns and operates the Red-Wood Christmas tree farm (red-woodfarm.com), a local holiday favorite since the 1960s. This seasonal farm provides a variety of fir trees, available to visitors freshly-cut or families can cut their own with one of the farm's complimentary saws. The farm helps families create holiday memories, celebrating the tradition of the family Christmas tree with its free wagon rides, hot chocolate, hot cider and candy canes. Mistletoe, pine wreaths and homemade Christmas ornaments are also for sale annually.

    Woodinville Light Festival

    • Each winter, local businesses and organizations come together to host the City of Woodinville's Light Festival (ci.woodinville.wa.us). This family-friendly holiday event includes numerous free activities for all ages, including crafts, music, a gingerbread house contest and a model train display. The town's local bands and dance teams offer holiday-themed performances. The highlights of the festival are the lighting of the city's Christmas tree at nightfall, in addition to a visit from from Santa Claus on a fire truck.
