Installing cabinets in your home will save you money. The first base cabinet to be installed is the corner cabinet. This cabinet needs to be level in three dimensions. It is crucial to get the corner cabinet level in order to keep the rest of the cabinets level. Installing base corner cabinets takes patience and time.
Things You'll Need
- Corner cabinet
- Stud finder
- Tape measure
- Wood shims
- Power drill with tips
- 3-inch grabber screws
Determine the location of the corner cabinet. Find the studs in the wall using a stud finder. Measure the location of the studs from the room corner so you know where the screws must be placed in the cabinet to screw to the wall.
Mark where the screws need to be placed to screw into the stud walls inside the corner cabinet with a pencil.
Drill a 1/8-inch hole through the back of the cabinet at each mark. Drill slowly to avoid chipping the cabinet. This is where the screws will be placed during installation.
Position the corner cabinet. Use a level to determine how level the cabinet is. If the cabinet needs to be adjusted, place shims under the cabinet until level.
Place 3-inch grabber screws into the pilot holes in the interior of the cabinet. Screw the cabinet to the wall using a power drill.
Check to make sure cabinet is still level after fastening the cabinet to the wall.
