Interior decorating often involves finding the perfect color of paint, furniture and artwork. Few think about how to incorporate a pet crate into home décor. But if you are like many pet owners who have a new canine in your home, it’s a common dilemma. A crate is a necessity for a new puppy to give the animal a sense of security. But it's not usually a decorative item. Make your pet’s crate a part of your home décor, and you won’t have to hide it when friends or family come to visit.
Things You'll Need
- Crate cover
Place the crate against a wall that is similar to the color of the crate, or place the crate against a piece of furniture made of similar material so it blends in and becomes less obvious.
Purchase a crate that is custom-designed for your home décor. Crates can be created from a variety of materials such as wicker, wire and wood. Select a material that accents your home décor.
Purchase a dog crate cover that accents your home décor. Crate covers are solid colored or have decorative prints on them such as paisley, floral or stripes. Another option is to purchase a crate cover that has a gathered skirt, which makes the dog crate look like a small table covered in a luxurious tablecloth when not in use.
Conceal the crate with a blanket or curtain that matches the décor or color scheme in the room.
Consider using the crate as an end table. Place an attractive tablecloth over the crate. Make sure the drape is tucked up so your puppy can get in.
