Plan this project around the weather. You will need at least three dry days in a row. The first will allow the brick pavers to completely dry after washing them. The next for your first coat and the last dry day for a finish coat. A good plan would be to wash the brick pavers Thursday evening after work and wait until Saturday morning to apply the first coat.

Remove any weeds and grass that have grown in the paver joints. After pulling the weeds apply weed killer. Follow the directions. Often this will require you to wait over night before proceeding.

    • 3

Use a pressure washer to clean the brick pavers. Wash away all dirt and debris. If there is any mold or moss then this will need to be completely washed away. After you are done with the pressure washer use a broom to push away any puddles. You need at least 24 hours without rain after this step before continuing.

Set up a barricade to prevent anyone from using the driveway. Make the barricade obvious. Some people do not think before they act so this simple step can prevent a major problem later.

    • 5

Apply the first coat of sealer. For small areas a paint roller will work fine. For larger areas use a backpack sprayer. The first coat will soak into the brick pavers quickly on the first coat. Start at a far corner and work your way back. Do not work yourself into a corner. Allow this coat to dry for 24 hours.

Apply additional coats of sealer to the brick pavers. Use the same method as above. You must wait 24 hours between each coat.
