How to Install Vinyl Base Cove Molding with Adhesive
The purpose of molding is to help make the transition between the wall and the floor seamless and easy on the eyes. Molding also helps to cover up any rough edges where tiles or laminate flooring meets the wall. Unlike wood molds, vinyl cove molding is installed with adhesive. Does this Spark an idea?

Measure the length of wall where you will be attaching the cove molding.

Stretch the molding out along the plank of wood. Measure off the amount that you need to cut and make a small mark on the molding. Cut through the molding with the utility knife. You might have to cut through the molding several times before the knife goes all the way through. Use the plank to protect the floor while you are cutting.

Wipe down the wall and the back of the molding with a damp cloth. Make sure that the wall is clean and free of any nails or bumps. You want a smooth surface for the best adhesion. You can use household cleaners to help remove tough stains. Allow the wall and molding to dry.

Apply the adhesive to the back of the molding. You can use a notched trowel, like the kind used for tiles, to help spread the adhesive and give it ridges. This will help the molding to stick to the wall better.

Press the molding against the wall. Hold it in place for about 30 seconds.

Clean up any adhesive that might have oozed out with a damp rag or follow the manufacturer's instructions for cleaning.

Tips & Warnings
Make sure the blade on your utility knife is sharp. This will help you cut the molding easier and also help prevent accidents.
If you have a caulking gun, you can purchase adhesive that comes in cartridges. This will make application easier.
Wear safety gloves when working with sharp objects such as utility knives.
Make sure you are working in a well ventilated area, as the fumes from some adhesives can be toxic.
