How to Replace Above-Ground Pool Overlap Liners
Above-ground swimming pools have been a fixture in American backyards for decades. Above-ground pools are characterized by the vinyl liners that hold in the water. The vinyl liner can become damaged or wear out, however, and will need to be replaced. The overlap liner is one of the three types used on above-ground pools. You should be able to replace the overlap liner on an above-ground pool with relative ease. Does this Spark an idea?

Turn off the sump pump once the pool has drained. Remove the pump and put it away.

5
Lift the overlap pool liner from the edges of the pool once you have removed all the top caps.
-
6
Gather up the pool liner, lift it out of the pool and set it to the side to be discarded.
-
7
Inspect the pool to make sure that there is nothing that can damage the new liner.
Install New Liner

8
Place the new overlap liner into the pool and lay it out according to the installation instructions.
-
9
Position the new liner's floor seams so that they meet at the pool wall bottom and the floor.
-
10
Pull the new pool liner evenly over the pool's walls until only a small area at the center of the pool liner is touching the floor.
-
11
Reposition the caps on the top of the pool wall but don't fasten them yet.
Refill the Pool
-
12
Fill up the swimming pool using a hose.
-
13
Remove the top caps around the pool as needed as the pool starts filling up so that the new liner settles evenly onto the pool floor.
-
14
Fasten the top caps back down, using a screwdriver if needed, once 6 inches of water enters the pool and the new overlap pool liner has been positioned properly.
-
15
Cut holes for the pool's skimmer and water return, using scissors, once the water has reached a depth of about 2 feet.
-
16
Fill the pool up to the recommended maximum water depth. Remove the hose from the pool.
-
17
Trim off any excess overlap pool liner hanging down from under the above-ground pool's top caps, using a scissors.
