How to Change the Color of Mexican Floor Tile
The original color of your Mexican floor tile may dull or fade away, leaving you unhappy with the finish, even after it has been resealed. It is possible to change the color of your Mexican floor tile, provided that it is not glazed, as glazing permanently seals the color on the tiles. If your tile floor has a glassy coating, it is likely glazed and, therefore, you cannot change its color. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Strip the sealer from the tile, using a stripper recommended for Mexican floor tile and following label directions. Clean the floor per the stripper's directions, as well.

2
Test the stain on an inconspicuous area of tile. Apply the stain and let it set according to label directions. Determine whether you want to continue with that color.

3
Tape off the grout and areas you do not want to stain with blue painter's tape. Apply stain to all tiles, following the stain manufacturer's directions. Avoid staining the grout.

Remove the tape, and touch up any areas of grout that accidentally became stained with a grout stain marker.
