Things You'll Need:
- Pressure-treated 2-by-4-inch lumber
- Kiln-dried 2-by-2-inch or 2-by-3-inch lumber
- Liquid nail glue
- Drill and drill bits
- 3-inch fluted nails
- Sledgehammer
- Level
- Insulation
- Electrical-wiring supplies
- Sheetrock
- Sheetrock tape

Step 1
Measure your walls. Determine how much lumber you need. Purchase the lumber and supplies.

Place a length of pressure-treated 2-by-4 inch lumber along the wall and floor seam. Secure the 2-by-4 inch lumber first with a bead of liquid nail glue. Be sure it's the kind that adheres to both wood and concrete.

Step 3
Drill pilot holes in the wooden base plate 16 inches apart. Use a masonry bit if you're drilling into concrete. Nail 3-inch fluted nails into the pilot holes with a sledgehammer.

Step 4
Begin installing the vertical studs with the 2-by-2 or 2-by-3 inch lumber. Mark where the first piece of wood goes. Make sure it's straight. Put a bead of liquid nail glue on the wall, and then attach the wood. Drill the pilot holes. Pound the fluted nails in with a sledgehammer. Continue to install the vertical studs. Make sure the center of each stud is 16 inches apart from the one next to it.

Step 5
Run any electrical wiring that you plan to do at this time. Also, if you need to run any water lines or anything else through the walls, now is the time to install them.

Put roll insulation between each stud if you plan to insulate the room. Or, you can use sheet-type insulation and nail it to the studs.

Step 7
Hang the sheetrock. Tape the seams. Finish the walls however you wish.
