How to Arrange Napkins & Silverware for an Informal Party

• Paper napkins
• Linen napkins
• Licorice

Instructions

Evening Party Silverware Arrangement

1. Arrange your plates and glassware on the table.

2. Place the dessert fork and spoon horizontally above your dinner plate. Set the spoon above the fork with the bowl facing to the left. Ensure the fork prongs are facing right.

3. 

   Never face the serrated edge of the knife toward the spoon.

   Position the dinner knife to the right of the plate with the serrated edge facing the plate.

4. Place the soup spoon next to the knife.

5. Lay the dinner fork on the left side of the plate. Place the salad fork next to the dinner fork if you're serving a three-course meal.

Evening Party Napkin Options

1. Arrange the napkins in the manner of your liking. Fold each one in half, forming a triangle. Fold it in half again, creating a smaller triangle. Tuck the napkin into the wine glass.

2. Fold the napkins into rectangles. Place the rectangular napkin on a side plate to the left of the dinner plate.

3. Fold the napkin in half and place it on the center of the plate. Alternatively, fold the napkin in half three times and place it neatly under the outermost fork at the table setting.

Outdoor Dining

1. Set a simple outdoor table with paper napkins and silverware or disposable plastic eating utensils. Center the dinner knife flat on a paper napkin.

2. Stack the fork directly on top of the knife. Place the teaspoon evenly on top of the fork.

3. 

   A simple silverware and napkin solution is to roll the silverware in the napkins.

   Fold the napkin over the top of the silverware. Roll the silverware in the napkin and lay it facing upward.

4. Thread a single strand of licorice through a hard, mint candy ring. Tie it around the utensils. Knot it. Place the silverware onto the center of the dinner plate.
