You will need a 3/8-inch drill to remove the molding tape.

Removal of 3M molding tape can be a frustrating, time consuming process, especially if you used a bonding adhesive. The manufacturers of 3M products know the difficulty of removing molding tape and have developed a "Stripe Off Wheel" attachment for your 3/8-inch electric drill to help you facilitate this process.

  1. Preparations

    • Gather the tools required to remove the molding tape. You will need to purchase a 4-inch 3M Stripe Off Wheel and some commercial adhesive remover from your local hardware store. Make sure the adhesive remover you purchase won't dissolve paint. Fully charge your electric-drill battery.

    Remove the Molding Tape

    • Attach your 3M Stripe Off Wheel to your 3/8-inch electric drill. Using the side or lip of the wheel in a up and down motion, carefully remove as much as the molding tape as you can.

    Wipe Away Remaining Residue

    • Remove any remaining residue with the commercial adhesive remover and a clean rag. Always follow manufacturer's directions and precautions when using commercial adhesive removers.
