Information on Caring for Tile Floors
Tile is a wonderful choice for home flooring. Once installed, it will last a long time with proper care. And proper care could not be easier. With a few simple tools, your tile floor will look good and wear well for years. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Sweep
-
Sweep tile floors often. The beauty of tile flooring is that you don't need a lot of cleaners to get the job done. Sweep often to keep the floor dirt free.
Vacuum
-
Vacuum attachments like a small stick vacuum are useful. A small stick vacuum is another option to care for a tile floor. Use the brush attachment. Never use anything that can scratch tile.
-
Sealer
-
Seal tile floors to keep them looking nice. After the tile floor is installed, consider a sealer for the floor and grout. This adds an extra layer of protection to the floor and will make caring for the tile easier.
Water
-
Mop tile floors with a soft cloth mop. Often all that is needed is a damp cloth mop to clean tile floors. Again, do not use a mop with a scratch pad on it as you don't want to scratch the tile. If needed, use a sponge to clean a dried spill.
Pet Stains
-
Pets often leave spills and stains on tile floors. Immediately wipe up food and pet spills and stains. The longer they sit on the tile floor, the more of a chance you have of permanent stains and odors.
Cleaners
-
Tile cleaners can be useful. Follow manufacturers' guidelines for brand name tile floor cleaners. An option is to make a mixture of half white distilled vinegar and half water.
