You can convert any picture into a sketch with the program Fireworks.

Learning how to convert a photo to a line drawing in Fireworks is not as difficult as it may sound. With a few simple clicks, you can transform any photograph into a sketched piece of art. When choosing a photo to convert, make sure you use a simple subject. Don't use a photo with too much detail, such as trees or city streets. Portraits are best for converting into line drawings in Fireworks.

Step 1

Open Fireworks on your computer. If you have not already done so, make sure Adobe Fireworks is properly installed on your hard drive. Once the program is open, from the menu, click "File," then "Open." This will open a window to the folders on your computer. Navigate to the photo you want to convert into a line drawing, select it and click "Open."

Apply the first filter. Once the image is opened, click "Select" from the menu, then "All." Click "Filter" from your menu then "Other" and "Find Edges." The image will darken and you will see the lines of the image highlighted.

Apply the next filter. At the bottom of the screen, you will see a "Properties" window. In this window, click on "Blend Mode." This will open a list of options from which to choose. Highlight the "Difference" option and click it.

Step 4

Apply the last filter. From the menu, click "Filters," then "Sharpen." This will give you a number of sharpening options. Choose "Sharpen." The photo will now look like a line drawing. You can repeat the sharpening step to make the lines bolder.
