Origami is the Japanese art of making objects by folding paper. You can use an origami technique to turn a sheet of paper into a cool paper airplane. The procedure requires you to follow a series of steps. The origami paper to be used for your paper airplane can be acquired from a hobby shop, unless you just want to use a piece of regular printing paper.
Things You'll Need
White origami paper, 5 inches by 5 inches
Red origami paper, 5 inches by 5 inches
Place a sheet of origami paper on a table. Place a second sheet on top of the first so that the sides line up with one another. Tape the two sheets together at the top and bottom with strips of cellophane tape.
Fold the left side of the two sheets over to the right so that the edges line up with each other.
Smooth the crease in the middle down with the tip of a finger. Return the left side of the two sheets back to where it was before you folded it.
Fold the tip of the top right corner into the crease in the middle. Fold the tip of the top left corner into the crease in the middle.
Fold the tip at the top of the two sheets down to the bottom. Fold the tips of the top right and left corners into the crease in the center in the same way as was done previously. Fold the point at the bottom of the two sheets up.
Fold the right end of the left flap over to the left side. Fold the left end of the right flap over to the right side. Smooth both creases with the tip of a finger.
Unfold the two flaps to form the wings of the paper airplane. Grip the bottom ridge of the paper airplane.
Go outside to your backyard. Pull your hand back, and throw your hand forward to release the cool two-colored paper airplane you have made.
Do not fly a paper airplane in a location where it could hit a person or pet, or an object that is breakable.
