Things You'll Need
1/4 cup baking soda
2 tbsp. salt
Nylon scrub brush
Removing stubborn grease from dishes and pans is rarely fun. While many cleaning products exist to help ease your task, some of them can cause more harm than good. Abrasive cleaners can leave behind scratches on porcelain stove tops, dishes or the nonstick coating on your pots and pans. Instead of risking damage, use a simple and gentle baking soda cleaning solution to banish grease from your home.
Pour 1/4 cup of baking soda into a small bowl.
Add 2 tbsp. of salt to the bowl and stir the ingredients together.
Add 1 tbsp. of hot water at a time, while stirring the mixture, until a thick paste forms. Approximately 2 tbsp. of hot water should be sufficient.
Scrub dishes, pans or oven racks with your homemade baking soda paste and a nylon scrub brush to remove baked on grease.
If you want to increase the grease removing effectiveness of your dish soap, add 1 cup of baking soda to a sink full of soapy water before you start washing your dishes.
