Things You'll Need

  • 1/2 cup vinegar

  • 1/2 tablespoon salt

  • 1/2 gallon warm water

  • Bucket

Stopping Towel Colors from Running

Step 1

Pour warm water, vinegar and salt into a large bucket.

Step 2

Mix gently to dissolve the vinegar and salt into the water.

Step 3

Place a towel into the bucket and submerge entirely.

Step 4

Soak the towel for an hour in the solution.

Step 5

Remove the towel and wring out the remaining solution from the towel.

Step 6

Rinse the towel with cool fresh water.

Step 7

Wash as you would normally, or repeat the hour-long soak if the rinse water shows any of the towel coloring.
