  • Metal pie pan

  • Homemade chicken pot pie

Homemade chicken pot pie is one of the most commonly-suggested comfort foods by most people. It is a hearty, filling dish that is easy to make and freezes well for a later date. The pot pie will taste better and last longer in the freezer if you freeze it before baking.

Step 1

Cook all essential ingredients in your chicken pot pie. Make sure that the chicken is thoroughly cooked and any vegetables or other ingredients are not raw.

Step 2

Assemble the homemade chicken pot pie in a metal pie tin. Lay the crust tightly over the top of the pie so that it fits snugly. Do not bake the homemade chicken pot pie.

Step 3

Place the homemade chicken pot pie in a gallon size freezer bag. Close the bag tightly making sure that you get as much of the air out of the bag as possible. You want the bag to suction around the pie so that it doesn't get freezer burned.

Step 4

Place the homemade chicken pot pie in the freezer. It can stay there as long as you would like as long as it is not baked.

Baking your chicken pot pie before you freeze it severely limits how long it can stay in the freezer.

Sealing these homemade chicken pot pies in a vacuum seal bag is best.
