How to Make Dishwashing Liquid

Things You'll Need

  • Liquid castile soap

  • Bottle or jar

  • Vegetable glycerine

  • White vinegar

  • Essential oils (any scent you like)

  • Essential oil

Everyone gets tired of spending lots of money buying overpriced dishwashing detergent. Most of these dishwashing liquids are loaded with dyes and fragrance and come in containers that are not recyclable or biodegradable. One solution to this problem is to make your own dishwashing liquid at home.

Step 1

Measure out 3 tbs. of the liquid castile soap, and add it to the jar or bottle that you will be storing the soap in.

Add 2 cups of warm water to the jar and stir to mix.

Add two tsp. of the vegetable glycerine and mix well.

Step 4

Add two tbs. of white vinegar. Mix all of the ingredients together until the liquid is of a thick, smooth consistency.

Add 10 drops of whichever essential oil you have selected.

Step 6

Put the cap on the bottle or jar and make sure it is on tight. Then shake the jar vigorously to mix all the ingredients again.

Tip

Use only about a tbs. at a time on your sponge.
