How to Disinfect a Hotel Jacuzzi

  • 1/2 cup powdered dishwasher detergent

  • 1 cup chlorine bleach

  • Washcloth

Hotels have a responsibility to comply with government-enforced health codes. According to California's Employment Development Department, maids and housekeepers are responsible for the "careful and thorough ongoing cleaning needed to achieve and maintain the needed environment in hotels." One responsibility of housekeepers is to clean Jacuzzi tubs.

Step 1

Fill the Jacuzzi tub with warm water.

Step 2

Add 1/2 cup of powdered dishwasher detergent to the water.

Step 3

Turn the jets on "high" and allow them to run for 2 minutes to completely dissolve the dishwasher powder.

Step 4

Add 1 cup of chlorine bleach to the water and allow the jets to continue running for approximately 15 minutes.

Step 5

Drain the tub, then refill it with cold water.

Step 6

Rinse the tub by turning the jets on "high" and allowing them to run for 5 minutes.

Step 7

Drain the cold water and wipe the Jacuzzi dry with a washcloth.

Tip

Turn on the bathroom vent to minimize the strong odor from the bleach.
