Step 1

Shape paper into the shape of a football. Use masking tape to help mold it and maintain its shape. Make sure it's pretty solid.

Step 2

Make paper mache paste by adding 1 part water to 5 parts white glue. Cut or rip newspaper into 1-inch by 3-inch strips. Dip the newspaper strips into the paste and then place them on the football form. Cover the entire football with two coats. Let the paper mache dry overnight. The process may take longer in a humid area. Put on a third coat and let it dry again.

Step 3

Paint the entire football brown. Let the paint dry for about an hour and paint on white circles at each end and laces down the center. Let those areas dry until they aren't tacky anymore.

Step 4

Paint your team name of logo above or below the laces. Most teams have decals with a logo on it, so if possible, add the decal as well. Allow everything to dry and then display for others to see.

Tip

You can use liquid starch or wall paper paste for paper mache paste also.
