  • 19-gauge steel wire

  • 24-gauge gold beading wire

  • Star-shaped cookie cutter

  • Thin decorative ribbon

  • Wire clippers

Make a Wire-Wrapped Star Ornament

Give your Christmas tree a homemade touch this year, or impress your friends and neighbors with this rustic, delicate wire-wrapped Christmas Star. Each star only takes about 15 minutes to make, and it’s the perfect craft to do with your kids. Attach them to wrapped presents for an extra special touch.

Step 1

Pull a length of steel wire away from the roll without cutting it yet. Make a 1-inch loop at the top of the wire.

Step 2

Placing the loop at the top of the cookie cutter, bend the wire to the start shape. Go around the cookie cutter twice and cut and twist the end of the wire to loop.

Step 3

Pull out a length of gold wire without cutting it. Secure the free end of the wire to the star shape. Crisscross the gold wire around the different points of the star until you have a web of wire across the ornament. Cut and secure the wire when the design is to your liking.

Step 4

Cut a 6-inch length of decorative ribbon and tie it to the top of the loop either as a bow or as a second loop to use for hanging.

Tip

All of the materials needed can be found at any craft store.
