Even the mildest stains in clothing can be a hassle. Add brightness and remove stains with the cleaning power of baking soda.
Things You'll Need
- Dirty clothing
- Box of baking soda
- Small Bowl
- Small brush or toothbrush
- White vinegar
How to Remove Stains with Baking Soda
Pour baking soda into a small bowl. Add enough water to make a paste.
Use a small brush or toothbrush to rub a small amount of the paste on the stain.
Use water or vinegar to rinse the baking soda from the stain.
Repeat if necessary.
Launder as usual.
Sometimes it also helps to soak the garment in a solution of 1/4 to 1/2 cup of baking soda to one gallon of warm water. Add 1/2 cup of baking soda to the soap at the beginning of the wash cycle for added cleaning and brightness.
Do not use these techniques on dry-clean only items.
