Even the mildest stains in clothing can be a hassle. Add brightness and remove stains with the cleaning power of baking soda.

Things You'll Need

  • Dirty clothing

  • Box of baking soda

  • Water

  • Small Bowl

  • Small brush or toothbrush

  • White vinegar

How to Remove Stains with Baking Soda

Step 1

Pour baking soda into a small bowl. Add enough water to make a paste.

Step 2

Use a small brush or toothbrush to rub a small amount of the paste on the stain.

Step 3

Use water or vinegar to rinse the baking soda from the stain.

Step 4

Repeat if necessary.

Step 5

Launder as usual.

Tip

Sometimes it also helps to soak the garment in a solution of 1/4 to 1/2 cup of baking soda to one gallon of warm water. Add 1/2 cup of baking soda to the soap at the beginning of the wash cycle for added cleaning and brightness.
