Things You'll Need
12 yards of 2-inch-wide ribbon
Large twist tie
A new vehicle makes a huge present that deserves a huge bow. Car bows follow the same pattern as regular bows, only they are much larger and use much more ribbon. If you are a beginner bow maker, select one color of ribbon for the bow in 2-inch-wide ribbon.
Place the ribbon in your hand and form a loop that is 1 foot wide. Form another loop so you have a figure eight that your thumb and pointer are holding in the middle.
Wrap the ribbon around the figure eight loops 13 times.
Cut the ribbon just slightly past the halfway point.
Fold the ribbon in half at the place where you've been pinching and cut both ends at a diagonal so there is a point at the top with 1/4 inch of ribbon intact.
Unfold the ribbon so you have your figure eight again and wrap the large twist tie around the middle. Thread the suction cup though the twist tie before twisting the ends together.
Start pulling loops from the inside of the figure eight and pull them toward and away from yourself. Do this with both ends of the ribbon.
Fluff the ribbon and adjust any loops.
Thread the remaining ribbon through the twist tie to form the ribbon's tails.
Stick the bow on the vehicle with the suction cup and let the tails hang over the sides of the vehicle.
