Nothing says "flavor" like an everything bagel. But instead of spreading on some cream cheese and calling it a day, why not take it to the next level? In this strata recipe, chunks of bagels are combined with breakfast favorites like sausage and cheese. Next, the mixture is soaked in eggs and baked into a mouthwatering casserole. It a perfect make-ahead breakfast for you, your family, or better yet, for a crowd.

Things You'll Need

  • 3 everything bagels

  • 8 breakfast cooked breakfast sausages

  • 1/2 yellow onion, chopped

  • 4 ounces marscapone cheese

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 cup half & half

  • 4 eggs

  • 1 tablespoon everything bagel spice (Find a homemade recipe here!)

  • 9-inch round baking pan

Step 1

Tear the bagels into 1-inch pieces and place in a 9-inch round baking dish.

Slice the cooked sausage. Add right on top of the bagel, followed by chopped onions and dollops of marscapone cheese.

Tip

About 2 and a half bagels will fit in a 9-inch round baking pan. For a slightly bigger container, 3 full bagels may fit.

Step 2

Add an even layer of shredded cheese on top. Set aside.

Step 3

In a large bowl, combine the half & half, eggs, and everything bagel spice. Whisk well.

Step 4

Pour the egg mixture over the strata. Cover and store in the refrigerator for 4 hours or overnight.

Step 5

When you're ready to cook, pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the top turns golden brown.

Serve on a bed of leafy greens. For even more flavor, add a drizzle of hot sauce or a spoonful of salsa.
