Plastic canvas can be used to make doll houses.

Plastic canvas is extremely easy to work with. The colors of yarn to use and the variety of ideas for crafts to make are unlimited. Something made from plastic canvas can be used in every room of the house and even in the garage and workshop. Tools and small parts that have to be stored can be organized in a container made from plastic canvas.

  1. Accessories

    • Purses can be made in almost any size or color desired. Compacts, tissue boxes and small purse-size containers are quick to make and sell well at craft shows. Make beach bags, sports totes and large-size totes for grocery shopping. Little girls and young ladies like dresser containers for holding hair barrettes and jewelry. Small strips of finished plastic canvas can be glued to hair barrette forms and plastic headbands. Create divided containers for separating beads and buttons.

    Holiday Decor

    • Rather than just giving plastic canvas creations as gifts, fill them with home-baked goods. Make the perfect-size containers for wine or specialty vinegars. An entire Christmas village can be created with plastic canvas, including the trees and other landscape accessories. Easter baskets in pastel colors are always popular and are sturdy. Fake candles made from plastic canvas for table centerpieces or other decorations are safer to use than real candles. Plastic canvas can be cut in shapes to use for Christmas ornaments or Easter eggs.

    Toys

    • Blocks with the alphabet or numbers made from plastic canvas are popular with toddlers. Doll house miniatures such as chairs, tables and other furniture are easily made using plastic canvas. Dresser sets for the baby's room done in pink or blue and filled with cotton swabs or cotton balls make interesting baby shower gifts. Use plastic canvas to make a mobile to hang on the baby's crib. Use bright-colored yarn and cover the edges well in case the baby can reach them.

    Miscellaneous Items to Make

    • Trivets can be made from plastic canvas to hold dishes that are too hot to place directly on the table. Wall hangings can be made in a variety of shapes and sizes. Pencil cases and crayon holders or boxes made in school colors are popular. Making book covers will save the bindings on Bibles and other books that are frequently handled. Picture frames can be created using a piece of cardboard or a second sheet of plastic canvas for the backing. Make small plastic canvas boxes and place perfumed soap scrap inside them to use as inexpensive deodorizers.
