Outer Space VBS Crafts
Churches use craft projects with children for reinforcing lessons learned about the Bible. If a person introduces a section of the Bible mentioning the heavens, planets or stars in the lesson, a craft project involving outer space is appropriate. For instance, Isaiah 40:22 talks about God stretching out the heavens and tells people the Earth is round. Creating simple outer space vacation Bible school (VBS) crafts is easy, and fun for the students.

Planet Mobile
-
Give each student a piece of 12 inch by 18 inch piece of paper, crayons, scissors, a coat hanger, a 24-inch long string and tape. Trace 10 different-size circles on the paper and cut out the circles. Show the students pictures of all of the planets, and let the students turn the circles into the planets and Sun. Punch a hole into each circle, and tie the string on the circle. Lay the hanger on a flat surface, and tie the Sun on the left side. Tie the planets in order across the hanger. Draw some star shapes on the scrap paper, cut them out and color the paper. Staple the stars onto the strings hanging down from the hanger. This craft works best with children 5-years-old and up.
The Puzzling Universe
-
Pass out a piece of letter-size, white card stock, crayons, scissors, glue and a printed puzzle template. Show the students pictures of the universe and let them draw and color their vision of the universe. Turn the drawing over, so the image faces the table. Put glue across the back of the drawing, and glue the template on top. The template should face up. Let it dry thoroughly. Cut across all the dark lines on the puzzle templates and the puzzle is ready.
