How to Rubberize Your Soles
Most shoes eventually wear out and lose their traction making walking feel slippery and possibly dangerous on many surfaces. If you don't want to throw the shoes away, you can take them to a shoe cobbler to be resoled. Another option is to add new rubber soles to the bottom. Adding the cushioning soles may even make the shoes more comfortable than before. The rubber soles are more durable and longer lasting than most leather soles. Does this Spark an idea?

Purchase heel and toe rubber taps that correspond to your correct shoe size. If the taps don't fit the shoe exactly, they can easily to be trimmed with scissors to fit the shoe once they are attached.

Clean the bottoms of the shoes thoroughly with a damp cloth before applying the new soles. If you are working with suede shoes, be careful not to damage the leather with the water. Let the shoes air dry.

Rough up the bottoms of the old soles up with sandpaper. This will allow the shoe repair glue to adhere more easily to the bottom the shoe.

Attach the new rubber heel and toe soles with shoe repair glue. Be precise when attaching the taps because the glue will dry quickly.
