Although a description is not required to start a group on Facebook, you can change it after the fact.

Facebook Groups allows an organization or group of people to easily connect with its members about events and announcements. A Group page can be set up by anyone with a Facebook account, with members included by invitation or through requests to join. When you first set up a Facebook group, a description is not required. If you have an open group that's searchable on the Facebook site, however, you may want to add a description to let interested parties know more about your group.

Instructions

      Log in to Facebook.

      Click the name of the group you wish to edit, which should appear on the left side of your screen.

      Choose "Edit Group" from the column on the right.

      Edit the description shown in the "Description" box.

    • 5

      Click "Save Changes" when you're finished to apply the changes.
