Make a versatile Star of David decoration to hang in your home. The Star of David, which is the main symbol of the Jewish faith, is easy to make because it consists of two equal-sided triangles. There are many different materials you can use to make your own Star of David. Craft sticks, otherwise known as Popsicle sticks, are ideal because they are precut to the same length. They are also plain wood, which makes it easier to decorate your Star of David ornament the way you want.
Things You'll Need
- Craft sticks
- Hot glue gun
Arrange three wooden craft sticks in a triangle. The angles in the corners of the triangle need to be of equal width. Add a dab of hot glue to the ends of the sticks where they overlap to connect them. Repeat with another set of three craft sticks to make an identical triangle. Wait 30 minutes for the glue to harden.
Turn one of the triangles so that the point is facing down and place it on top of the other triangle, which should be pointing up. Apply less than a pea-sized amount of hot glue in the middle on the bottom triangle where the two triangles overlap. Wait 30 minutes to let the glue harden.
Dip a paintbrush into white acrylic paint and paint one side of the star. Wait 45 minutes for the paint to dry and turn it over to cover the other side. Apply another coat of paint after the first coat has finished drying. Decorate the star further by gluing clear glitter or blue and white rhinestones to the star, honoring the colors on the flag of Israel.
Measure and cut a piece of yarn up to 4 inches long and tie the ends together to make a loop. Glue the tied end of the loop to the back of one point of the star with hot glue, and make sure the rest of the loop is pointing upward. Wait 45 minutes for the glue to harden and hang the Star of David ornament from the loop.
