How to Crochet a Halloween Cat
Black cats are a staple of Halloween decorations. You can crochet your own amigurumi version. This version will make a pleasant and friendly looking feline holding a pumpkin for your All Hallow's Eve needs. You can place the finished figure next to your candy bowl for costumed children to appreciate or elsewhere in your home. To make a more sinister friend, use red cat eyes instead of yellow, or give the pumpkin a frightened face.
Things You'll Need

1
Create the cat's head. Using the F hook and black yarn, chain 2 and single crochet (sc) six times in the second chain from the hook. For the next row, sc twice in each stitch you just made. Steadily increase the size for each row, repeated (1 sc, increase) in the third row, (2 sc, increase) in the fourth row, and continue until you get to (6 sc, increase). Complete three rows with just single crochets, then steadily decrease the rows in the same manner you increased them. At the end, add the eyes, stuff the head, and fasten off.

2
Make the limbs and tail with black yarn. Start with two chains and 6 sc in the second chain from the hook. In the second row, 2 sc in each stitch and for the third row repeat (1 sc, increase) around. Then complete another nine rows of only single crochets. Fasten off. Make four for the limbs and stuff them lightly. Use this to make the tail, but add four more rows of single crochet before fastening off.

Crochet the ears with black yarn. Chain nine, then single crochet in the third chain from the hook and down the rest of the chain. Start the following rows with a chain one and turn. Skipping the first and sixth stitch for row three, single crochet across. For row four, skip the first and fifth stitches, and in row five, skip the first and fourth stitches while single crocheting across. On row six, skip the first and third stitches. Finish the ear off by skipping the first and crocheting in the last stitch.

4
Creating the body is much like creating the head. After getting to the (6 sc, increase) row, continue adding 10 rows to lengthen the body before the decreasing rows start. Stuff then fasten off.

5
Make the pumpkin with orange and black yarn. Use the same method you used for creating the head, but do not include the three rows in between decreasing and increasing. With the yarn needle and black yarn, create a face for your pumpkin. With green yarn, chain four and single crochet down the chain starting from the second chain from the hook. Attach this to the top with the yarn needle for a stem.
-
6
Sew it all together. Using the yarn needle, sew the limbs, head, body, ears and tail together using additional yarn or the end tails of each piece. With the pink yarn or embroidery floss, use the yarn needle to make a triangle in the middle of the cat's face for a nose. Place the pumpkin in between the cat's front paws, and either add Velcro to hold it in place or use the yarn needle to stitch it in place.
