How to Put a Bobbin Inside a Sewing Machine
The bobbin is one of the most important pieces within the sewing machine. This plastic piece provides storage for the thread you are using for your sewing project. It makes sewing any type of fabric easier. Inserting a bobbin into a sewing machine may seem like a daunting task, but it can be done successfully. Raise the presser foot that is located on the sewing machine. The presser foot is the metal piece that applies pressure to the fabric and keeps it in place.

Raise the needle to its higher position by turning the hand wheel towards you. The hand wheel is located on the right side of the sewing machine. Raising the needle will allow you to get access to the bobbin.

Open the slide plate on the sewing machine and remove the empty bobbin. The slide plate is the large metal piece the fabric sits on. At this point, you will have a replacement bobbin with thread already attached.

Leave 4 inches of thread out of the bobbin and insert the bobbin into the case within the sewing machine.

Guide the 4 inches of thread into the first notch while holding the bobbin place. Continue by guiding the thread into the slot on the left and into the second notch.

Pull 4 to 5 inches of thread diagonally across the bobbin and toward the back of the machine. Continue by closing the slide plate while holding the thread outside of it. The bobbin will be in place and the excessive thread will extend within the slot between the slide and needle plates.
