How to Update Mugen Characters

Mugen is a 2-dimensional character fighting game base produced by the company Elecbyte. Mugen allows a user to customize and create new characters as well as interchangeable surroundings and fighting instruments. To update your Mugen character, you'll need to use a downloadable program. The program used here is MFixer v1.00. This program is based on searching and replacing characters and can be programmed for new Mugens in future release. Using the program is fairly easy. There are three directional buttons to use. It is recommended you have a strong memory space on your computer before downloading the program.

Instructions

Run Mfixer v1.00 installer on your computer. Three buttons will appear: "define fix", "apply fix" and "exit". Click the "define fix" button which will load the cns2000-06-27fix.mfx file; then click the "save" button. The fix that loaded should be displayed; then press apply. A large "apply fix" button should appear in a column; click it. Find the .cns file; it will start the program. It will take some time for the program to download. Once the program is finished, a message will pop up and tell you it's ready.

When you are defining a fix, three options will appear def2000-06-27fix.mfx fixes; .def files cns2000-06-27fix.mfx fixes; .cns files cmd2000-06-27fix.mfx fixes .cmd files. At this point, load pre-existing files or rename it.

Choose the pre-existing file def200-60-27fix.mfx to start. A display with "change from" and "change to" will appear on the screen. Those buttons determine the outcome of the fix on file. The display should read in the "change from" tab name=%n, in the "change to" tab you type in name="%n. Eventually you will come to the cns200-60-27fix.mfx file, and you will change the numhelper%n into numhelper(%n). By placing brackets around the name, it tells the computer to replace what is in the brackets. Doing this lets the computer focus on the new change in the file.

Create a dummy display to keep information from reverting back to its original state. A dummy display can be made so that the program reads the dummy file first and allows the lesser domination file to be read and fixed. For example, in the "change from" tab the numbers displayed are amie2005, amie2070 and the dummy file amie###. Flip the numbers in the "change to" tab to amie### then amie2005 and amie2070. The program converts 2000.01.01 Mugens into 2000-06-27 Mugens version. You must have the same amount of the number present when changing, which means if you start with three numbers in the program you must fix it with three numbers.
