      Choose a scarf or bandanna. You may also use a piece of fabric with the dimensions of a scarf or bandanna.

      Fold your scarf, bandanna, or fabric. For a long, rectangular scarf, fold it lengthwise once or twice until it is the desired width. For square fabrics, fold into a triangle and then fold the pointed end under until the fabric is the desired width.

      Wrap the scarf or bandanna around your head.

      Tie a square knot at the nape of your neck. You can also tie the ends in a bow above your ear for a whimsical look.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have especially fine hair, you can tie your scarf over a traditional headband to make sure it stays in place.
