1
Draw a vertical line measuring about 9 to 10 inches in length down the center of your sketchbook page. Mark each inch to create sections down the line. This will guide you as you draw the proportions of the mannequin.
-
2
Outline an oval shape in the first section or inch to represent the head. Start drawing the shoulders about one-third into the second section, sketching a horizontal line on each side of the vertical line that measures three-quarters of the head in width.
-
-
3
Create the desired bust in the second section. Move halfway down the second inch to draw a waist line that should measure seven-eighths the width of the head.
-
4
Begin to shape the mannequin hips halfway into the third section. Sketch the desired length of the legs at the fourth inch with the knees in the middle between the hip and ankles, measuring at least two-thirds the width of the head. You can make the legs as long as the ninth or tenth inch.
-
5
Form the ankles in the eighth or ninth section, depending on the leg length. Keep the calves at the midpoint between the knees and ankles, measuring a similar width as the hips.
-
6
Give your mannequin identity by sketching out a hairstyle and facial features. Draw your clothing designs on the completed mannequin, using colored pencils to animate your styles. Add in other fashionable elements to the sketch such as jewelry, shoes and other accessories to create the total look.
