-
1
Cover the cooled cake in vanilla icing. This is the land that the train is riding over.
-
2
Cover the cookies with green icing. These will serve as your trees.
-
-
3
Place the licorice strings on the cake to form train tracks; it doesn't matter where you start. You can start in the middle or the very top of the cake; just make sure you start and stop at the bottom edges. Use your toy train as a guide for how wide the track will be. Cut the remaining licorice in smaller strips and place them in the middle of the outside tracks. These should be spaced an inch apart from each other.
-
4
Write out "Happy Birthday" with the tubed icing to the side of the train tracks. You can personalize it by adding the recipient's name.
-
5
Cover the icing around the tracks with the green sugar to resemble grass. Sprinkle it anywhere you would like.
-
6
Stick the tree cookies in the cake so they appear to be standing on their edge. Place them anywhere you wish. Put them in two's in order to fully create the "tree" effect.
