How to Do '60s Hair
The 1960s marked a time of change in politics, social activism and women's fashion. Women were more daring and willing to try new and inventive hairstyles. Many of these styles centered on larger-than-life fashion icons of the time, including Twiggy and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. One of the most recognizable looks from the era is the "flip," which was worn by housewives and celebrities alike. The flip can be accomplished today with the help of a modern invention: electric rollers. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Plug in a set of electric rollers. It should take about five to 10 minutes for the rollers to become hot enough to use.
-
2
Make a part down the center of the head with a small-toothed comb.
-
-
3
Divide the hair into four sections: two at the bottom of the ear on each side and two at the top of the ear at each side.
-
4
Divide each of the two top sections into two or three smaller sections. Using one hot roller per section, roll each section under toward the head.
-
5
Divide each of the two bottom sections into two or three small sections. Roll each of these sections upward, or in the opposite direction of the top sections.
-
6
Spray the entire head with hairspray. Keep the curlers in your hair for five to 10 minutes.
-
7
Unroll each of the curlers.
-
8
Tease the hair at the scalp slightly with the comb to achieve more volume. Spray the scalp with more hairspray.
-
9
Using a round brush, style the bottom section upward to emphasize the flipped-out ends. Coat this section of hair with more hairspray.
