How to Make a Ping Pong Ball Launcher
Ping pong balls make excellent projectiles to shoot since they are lightweight and cannot cause severe damage to whatever they hit. You can make a ping pong ball launcher from a few supplies around the house. You will also need a barbecue lighter. Adult supervision is necessary when making and using a ping pong ball launcher if the person making it is underage, since propelling the ball uses explosive force.
Things You'll Need
- Empty paper towel tube
- Hair spray
- Barbecue lighter
- Duct tape
- Scissors
- Ping pong ball

Stand the paper towel tube on a work surface. Tape over the end at the top of the paper towel tube with strips of duct tape. Smooth the duct tape down onto the paper towel tube with your fingers.

Cut a hole in the center of the duct tape covering the top of the paper towel tube.

Insert the tip of the barbecue lighter into the hole in the duct tape. Tape the lighter to the top of the paper towel tube with strips of duct tape.

Go outside in your backyard. Tip the ping pong ball launcher you have made so that the open end is facing up.

Spray hair spray into the open end of the ping pong ball launcher for five seconds. Drop a ping pong ball into the open end of the ping pong ball launcher.

Aim the open end of your ping pong ball launcher at a tree or rock. Press the trigger on the lighter to fire the ping pong ball from your launcher.
