How to Make a Mocha Whipped Body Butter

Whipped body butter is a luxurious cream for the skin, often comprised of shea or cocoa butter. Instructions

    • 1

Melt the shea or cocoa butter on the stove over a medium heat. Use the double-boiler method to melt the butter. Place the saucepan on the stove, and fill it with 1 to 2 inches of water. Place a metal bowl over the saucepan, so the butter begins to liquefy with the heat of the boiling water. Remove from heat once the butter is completely melted.

    • 2

Add the 6 ounces of almond oil, 1/2 ounce each of the chocolate, vanilla and coffee fragrance oils for the mocha scent, and 2 teaspoons of corn starch, if desired. The corn starch can reduce some of the oily feeling within the body butter. Mix thoroughly.

    • 3

Place the bowl with the mixture into a second bowl filled with cold water and ice cubes. This will cool down the mixture, allowing it to partially solidify to begin whipping.

    • 4

Transfer the partially hardened mixture to a plastic bowl, and use an electric mixer set to “whip” to combine and add air to the butter mixture. This will give it a light, fluffy appearance.

    • 5

Scoop the whipped body butter into glass jars with a wooden spoon. Keep in a cool dry area.
