How to Convert Windows Contacts to Vcf

Save

Windows Contacts is Microsoft’s proprietary address book and contact manager, introduced with Microsoft Windows Vista and continued with Microsoft Windows 7. Microsoft Contacts, which replaced Microsoft Address Book, integrates with Windows Mail and Microsoft Office Outlook. By default, Windows Contacts uses XML technology to store contact details in a ".contact" extension file. Microsoft Contacts fully supports .wab contacts, .vcf contacts and .csv contacts. Windows Contacts integrates the support for exporting and importing the .vcf (vCard) technology.

  • Click Start (the Windows icon on the taskbar), then click “All Programs” and then “Windows Contacts.”

  • Click “Export” on the toolbar. If you can’t see it, click the “>>>” button to display all toolbar options.

  • Click “vCard (folder of .vcf files).”

  • Click “Export” and then choose a destination folder for your vCard contacts to be exported. Click “OK.”

  • Click “OK” when the export process is complete, and then click “Close.”

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don’t wish to export the entire address book, open Windows Contacts, right-click the contact(s) you wish to export, then choose “Send Contact.” This will export the individual contact and open Windows Mail to forward the contact.
  • vCards do not support photographs or images, so any images contained in your Windows Contacts file will be lost in the export.
