How to Connect a Car Speaker Box to a Home Theater
Car audio speakers work in the same way as any other speakers, and can be connected to a stereo head unit in your car, an aftermarket amplifier or a home theater receiver/amplifier. With some common tools, you can connect unused car audio speaker boxes to your home theater system to add more sound to your TV and movie-watching experience.
Instructions

1
Choose a location for your speaker enclosure. For subwoofers, try to place the enclosure behind the television, or behind a couch or chair, and on the floor.
-
2
Measure and cut a length of speaker wire to reach from your home theater amplifier to your speaker enclosure, leaving enough slack to run the speaker wire along the wall, and around any chairs or other furniture.
-
-
3
Separate the two halves of each end of the speaker wire and peel apart 4 or 5 inches of wire.
-
4
Strip off a quarter-inch of the rubber shielding on all four ends of the speaker wire with the wire stripping tool.
-
5
Remove the amplifier's power cable from the wall, and connect the positive output of your amplifier to the positive input on your speaker enclosure. Positive contacts are usually marked by a plus sign (+) or are painted red.
-
6
Connect the negative output of your amplifier to the negative input on your speaker enclosure. Negative contacts are usually marked by a minus sign (-) or are painted black.
-
7
Verify that all four of your connections are secure and reapply power to your home theater system's amplifier.

Tips & Warnings
Check the resistance rating of your speakers and amplifier before installing. The resistance is measured in ohms and should be clearly marked on your amplifier, speakers or speaker enclosure. Make sure the resistance rating of your speakers is not lower than the minimum rating of your amplifier or you may damage the amplifier.
