Make your own ninja star.

The ninja star, or shuriken, is a highly valued ninja weapon. These pointed throwing stars are very accurate in the right hands, and, because of their design, are almost sure to stick in their target every time. The word "shuriken" is actually a combination of three Japanese words meaning "hand released blade," a very literal and accurate description of this weapon. Ninja stars are also very familiar weapons to anyone who watches various anime series, especially "Naruto Shippuden." Shuriken are one of Naruto's favorite weapons, and many fans seek to make weapons like his. Creating a shuriken from wood is easy with the right tools, but these weapons are for show only. You should never throw a shuriken, real or wooden, at anyone or anything you don't want to harm.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay a piece of thin wood, no more than 1/8 inch thick, on a flat surface. Place an old CD on top of the wood and trace around the outer edge with a pencil. Trace the hole at the center of the CD as well.

    • 2

Cut out the circle and hole with a Dremel tool blade. The circular blade should work very well. Gently sand the edges of the circle and the hole to avoid getting splinters.

    • 3

Place your ruler on top of the circle so it bisects the circle vertically, running through the hole in the center as well as stretching toward the edges.

    • 4

Draw a vertical line bisecting the circle, stopping about 1/2 inch on either side of the hole. Make a horizontal line this way as well. Turn the circle so your two lines form an X and make another vertical and horizontal line. There should be eight lines total radiating out from the center of the circle.

    • 5

Place your ruler on a diagonal from the tip of the top vertical line to the bottom of the diagonal line to its right. Draw a line connecting these two points. Do the same on the left side of the line. Turn your circle 90 degrees and continue until you have drawn four points or triangles.

    • 6

Use your high-speed rotary tool to cut along your diagonal lines. Sand the edges to remove burrs and splinters, and spray paint the entire thing black.
