How to Make a Teck Deck Skateboard
Tech Deck skateboards were first introduced in 2000 and have since exploded in popularity amongst kids as well as teens and adults. Now skateboarding enthusiasts can skate anytime and anywhere they want, they just have to use their fingers. Even though there are plenty of Tech Deck skateboards available, many people are beginning to think of creative ways to make their own using everyday household items like index cards or cereal boxes.

1
Disassemble your Tech Deck skateboard by removing the trucks with the skate tool. Trace the deck onto a piece of cardboard paper or an index card, including the holes where the trucks were, or simply freehand the whole template yourself.
-
2
Cut out your template and retrace it again six more times on the cardboard. Use a needle to poke all eight of the holes out on all of your Tech Deck cut-outs.

3
Glue each of the seven layers together, one on top of another, being careful to avoid blocking off the holes where the trucks go. Use a needle to continuously poke through the holes if you see some glue beginning to seep through. Wipe off any excess glue that gets forced out of each layer with your finger or a paper towel.
-
4
Bend both ends of the cardboard Tech Deck up so that they resemble the shape of a real skateboard. Do this before the glue fully dries to achieve a more curvaceous concave shape. Allow the glue to dry for the appropriate time depending on what kind of glue you chose to use.
-
5
Apply the grip tape. Use some old excess grip tape from a real skateboard or glue a piece of sand paper onto the top of your deck. Poke out the holes for the trucks with the needle. Cut off any excess grip tape or sand paper with scissors. Allow the glue to dry if you used sand paper.
-
6
Give your cardboard Tech Deck some flavor with a few layers of paint on the underside. Apply thin layers and allow a few minutes of air in between coats. Get creative and make some cool designs on the grip tape or the bottom of the board.
-
7
Mount the trucks. Use the trucks from your disassembled Tech Deck and attach them to your cardboard fingerboard with a tiny skate tool. Buy your trucks separately if you chose to freehand your template in the beginning and left your real Tech Deck assembled.
