How to Make Dorothy Shoes
Dorothy's iconic ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz are easy to make to wear with a Halloween costume for either Dorothy or the Wicked Witch. The concept can also be adapted to make sparkly princess shoes.
Things You'll Need
- Shoes
- Red spray paint
- Newspaper
- Hot glue gun
- Hot glue sticks
- Red sequin strands

Spray paint shoes red. Stuff the inside of the shoe with newspaper to keep paint out. Holding the paint can 5 inches from the surface of the shoe, evenly spray the outside of the shoe red moving the spray paint can in smooth waving motions over the shoes so paint does not clump in any one area. Do not spray the soles. Spray additional coats of paint as necessary.

Glue sequins on shoes. Let the shoes dry for eight hours.

Spot glue individual sequins (you can cut them from the strand) wherever there are bare spots.

Tips & Warnings
Almost any plain shoe will work for this project. However, if you are making shoes for a child who will be trick-or-treating, use a canvas tennis shoe for comfort.
It's best to spray paint outside where overspray and fumes won't be a problem.
