Homemade Tinkerbell Halloween Costume

Lime green colors are used to create a Tinkerbell costume.

Tinkerbell is a fairy from the Disney movie "Peter Pan." Little girls love dressing up like Tinkerbell, and there is no better time to do this than on Halloween. Parents don't have to spend a fortune purchasing a Tinkerbell costume from the Disney store. They can make a Tinkerbell costume at home.

Things You'll Need

• Lime green bathing suit or gymnastics outfit
• Lime green skirt
• Scissors
• Tights
• Fairy wings
• Lime green tennis shoes
• Cotton balls
• Hot glue gun
• Body glitter

Instructions

1. Get out a lime green bathing suit, or a lime green gymnastics outfit. If you don't have one, you can probably find one in a thrift shop or consignment store. It doesn't have to be the exact shade of green, but you want to try to get as close to lime green as possible.

2. Modify a lime green skirt to look like Tinkerbell's outfit by cutting a few triangles out of the bottom of the skirt so that it has jagged edges around the bottom of the skirt.

3. The costume wearer should have tights underneath the bathing suit and skirt to stay warm in cold weather. The tights can be nude, tan, or white.

4. Add a set of fairy wings to the costume. You can borrow a pair from someone who was a fairy the year before, look for a pair in a thrift store or purchase a brand new set.

5. Put on a pair of lime green tennis shoes, and use a hot glue gun to attach a cotton ball on the top of each shoe. These will resemble the shoes that Tinkerbell wears. If you can't find lime green tennis shoes, you can purchase white ones and dye them with lime green dye.

6. Place your hair in a bun, and rub on some body glitter to complete the Tinkerbell costume.

Tips & Warnings

• If your hair isn't blond, you can purchase temporary blond hairspray or use a blond wig.
